Some changes are coming to Hawaii’s QUEST (Medicaid) program, and keeping your contact information up to date is the first and most important step to keeping your coverage.
What You Should Know
Starting January 1, 2027, H.R.1 shifts how Med-QUEST handles coverage for adults aged 19 to 64 who are not pregnant, blind, or disabled.
The two most critical updates you need to know are:
Twice-as-Frequent Renewals: Instead of renewing your coverage once a year, eligibility checks will now happen every six months.
*Work or Community Engagement Requirements: To keep your coverage, this group of adults will need to show that they work or volunteer at least 80 hours per month, have a household income of at least $580 per month, or are enrolled at least half-time in an educational program.

Good to know: Two months before your 2027 renewal, the state will try to automatically verify your status using electronic data. If they can’t, they will reach out to you directly. If your address or phone number is outdated, you might miss this important notification.
What Can You Do Now?
Whether you need to register for the first time or simply update your profile, taking action takes less than five minutes online.
Step 1: Visit the Registration Portal
Go directly to the official Hawaii Med-QUEST site at medical.mybenefits.hawaii.gov/register.html.
Step 2 (New Users): Create a New Account
If you don’t have an online profile yet, click Create Account. You will need your Med-QUEST ID number, case number, or Social Security Number to link your physical benefits to your new digital portal.
Step 2 (Existing Users): Log In and Update
If you already have a profile, log into your account. Navigate to your profile settings to review your phone number, email, and mailing address. Correct any outdated details immediately.
